We recommend you to prepare a route and wake up earlier than usuall (if you’re not too hangover, of course…) in order to take the best out of this ocasion. Here’s some of the best museums you can visit without spending a cent:


MACBA: Contemporary Art

Situated in the Plaça dels Àngels, in Raval, MACBA museum will delight all contemporary and minimalist art lovers (Skaters really dig it too. Go there and you will understand why!) The permanente collection dates from the mid 20th century, focusing on post 1945 Catalan and Spanish art (although some International artists are also represented). They have regulary highly ambitious temporary collections and also workshops, conferences, audiovisual activities, etc.

MNAC: Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya

In this impressive building, located in Monjuic hill, you will be able to apreciate Catalan art from the 12th to the 20th centuries and a breathtaking view to the city. If you love ancient art, you will be amazed by the romanesque and gothic collection. Besides, here you will also find exclusive works of great painters such as Zurbarán, Velázquez and Rubens.

Picasso Museum Barcelona

Right in the heart of Born neighborhood you will find one of Barcelona’s best treasures: the Picasso Museum. The unique talent of the young artist is revealed through the 4.249 works that make up the permanent collection plus the temporary collections. Queues tend to be veeery long, so you should buy the tickets online. After the visit, you can enjoy a nice coffee at Lilipep, right around the corner! Museu Marìtim de Barcelona

This museum, located at the southern edge of the Old Town and at the end of the Rambla, has a really intense collection of ship models along with many navigational tools. But the best part is the full-size replica of the Santa Maria on which Columbus sailed in 1492. After the visit, a walk around Port Vell will fit in perfectly!

Eat Meat is a non- profit cultural organisation dedicated to the “art for laying bare contemporary obsessions [which include] mutations of form and essence, hybridisations, new visual engineering, the sickness of the soul, other rituals, the monstrous, the transgeneric and alterities”. For those with a… surrealistic taste!

Contemporary art, graphic design, urban design, street art and so much more… Mutt Art Gallery is also an amazing bookstore. Every month there’s a different exhibition and a masive change in decoration. So don’t judge things based on size… In this case, it doesn’t matter at all!
